    Hi,

I am still confuse of deciding which lenovo thinkpad I should buy, t400 or w500?

In my opinion, both of them are overall best in performance?

T400 is smaller and w500 is larger.

Can anyone help to convince me?

    Kind regards

You mean t400 vs t500? If you are even considering the w500 you would be considering the t500 :p.

My two cents? T500 has a better video card. By better I will see a bit under twice as fast (as measured by 3DMark6). The T400 gets better battery life, is smaller and weighs less. There are other differences but those are the ones I cared about.

T500/W500 (they have basically the same GPU) has a much better GPU than the T400 but the tradeoff is weight. Pretty much the only difference... I don't think the battery life will be that different considering both have switchable graphics and can get the same components, the difference being the screen (can't get LED right now).

The T400, T500, and W500 all offer the same CPUs and integrated GPU. However, the T500 and W500 have a significantly faster dedicated GPU (and DisplayPort). The W500 also has the advantage of a workstation card that is tuned for CAD and a 1920x1200 display option.

If you value portability, and your apps are mostly CPU/disk based, then the T400 is your best option. If you intend on playing a fair amount of games, the T500 may be a better choice. If you plan on running CAD or similar 3D software, you should opt for the W500.

    i pick the W500.

the T400 and the T/W500 doesnt differ all that much in size.
the T400 has bigger bezel to screen ratio than the T/W500.

the T/W500 can be configured with more powerfull GPU. and offers more cooling capability.

if you're running heavy work app (CAD) then the W500 is a no brainer.

Oddly enough, when I was trying to decide between the T400 and T500, the additional unused space to the right and left of the keyboard was a bigger factor for me than I expected. The T400 just looked better to me in that regard, as the bevel difference didn't matter much to me. Still, in the end I went for function over form, and opted for the more powerful and higher res T500.
