I might switch to Vista in a year (minimum time frame). Can I add that Turbo Memory stuff later?
Other than being able to spell 'Vista', I know absolutely nothing about it. What's Turbo Memory, and how does it help Vista???

AFAIK, Turbo Memory helps 'significantly' when you boot Vista.
Thou' the performance figures are often debated, its certainly a technological advancement. -
It helps Vista in possible two ways. This is up to the way that you configure it. It is just like ram, although the memory doesn't disappear when you turn off your computer. So it will either act as ram or it will act like a buffer on your hard drive. If you are like me and have 4 gigs of ram then the ram aspect doesn't help you so I specifically give this memory for my hard drive.
When your hard drive works, it spins up to get the data (this take time and battery). This is supposed to cache, or pre-load the data before it is needed from your hard and therefore won't use your hard drive as much and therefore you won't use your battery as fast.
If your hardware on your computer allows you to add it, then yes. I have a Dell 1420 and I have a slot for it. It works great, but if you ever have to reinstall your windows software, you will either want to take it out, or load the controller driver just before you install Vista. -
Yes, you can add Turbo memory anytime assuming you have a free mini PCI-e slot.

I don't know why the results don't show much improvement but Turbo memory has made my vista much faster. I think you can replace it when you open all those screws under palm rest. This slot can also be used for UWB in future.
T400 - Can you add Turbo Memory after getting your laptop?
