    Hi guys,

If Lenovo ships me new wired ethernet card is it possible to swap it without sending the notebook to Lenovo? Is the card soldered to motherboard?

    thanks

Just curious, why do you want to swap? The card is not soldered, it's pci. I'm not as familiar on the T400, but I know Lenovo likes to whitelist cards in the BIOS, meaning if it's not on the whitelist in the BIOS it won't work without a BIOS hack, even if it's a generic of the same card. This of course forces you to buy a Lenovo branded card, which is more expensive. Perhaps someone with better knowledge than I with regards to the T400 can chime in?

Thanks for the explanation Zaz. My LAN card doesn't detect network until I push and hold down the network cable that's why I want to replace it.
The replacement card will work if shipped by Lenovo though, right?
    thanks

My bad, I was seeing WiFi not ethernet for some reason, which is pci. If your ethernet card isn't working, you're mostly likely going to need a new mobo as it's integrated into the motherboard. You'd have to send it in for service for that, unless you have on-site. You could upgrade if you're still under warranty.
