Hi all,
I have up to 90 processes running at startup of my T400 (Vista 64bit). The memory usage is 1.3G/2G then it reduces to 0.9G after 10 minutes running. However, CPU (T9400) usage is always running at 50%. Does it seem normal?![]()

Have you tried looking in task manager to find which process is using the CPU?

About 90 processes is normal for a Thinkpad without a clean install. It's also normal for Vista to use more memory and access your hard drive more frequently in the first few minutes after boot. To cut down on the number of processes, uninstall some of the ThinkVantage tools that you don't need/use.
A common CPU hog is the Intel graphics processes - it's some bug that hasn't been fixed. Fortunately, you can end those processes without any negative consequences. To see if it is the Intel graphics processes, look for processes that start with "igfx". -
how many watts are you running at

Yeah, definitely the file IGFXSRVC is running most CPU as my task manager shows: http://img268.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=performancecom.jpg
How can disable it and what if I switch from Intel X4500 to ATI 3470?
