    Hello,

My T400 boots up in 800x600 resolution every time. It didn't always do this. It all started after I tried to hook up an external monitor with the vga port.

Also, when I hit Fn + F7, the presentation director does not open.

Has anyone else experienced this? It is annoying to have to switch my resolution to 1440x900 every time I boot up this computer.

I have all the latest drivers installed.

    Please help, thanks!

right click and go to your personalize tab and go to screen properties and set your screen resolution.

    Cheers.

Lol@this, you just stated what the OP just said his problem was as a solution.

Anyway, did you try setting the gfx to discrete/onboard in the BIOS?
That way it will default boot to one video option, and not get confused as to what gfx option/resolution to use.

K, I'll try this. But if I do will I be able to use the switchable graphics? Or will I be stuck with the ATI only?

    Thx

okay geat, so I did this. It now boots up with the regular 1440x900 resolution.

next question... is switchable graphics still gonna work or no?

Not if you set it in the BIOS, it disables the other card.

I have noticed that Vista boot time is significantly shorter now now that I am in discrete graphics mode. Is everyone that has a T400 using this mode to avoid problems? One of the main selling features for me on the T400 was the switchable graphics.

Are you using the stock ATI driver from Lenovo? I don't believe that typical ATI drivers even support switchable graphics.

Yes, i am using the Lenovo drivers. I dont get why it doesn't work now when it worked when I bought the thing in September. What did I do to it off? lol

I really like the idea of switchable graphics. Someone please make it work the way it was intended.

Also, if anyone else has any input or ideas that can resolve my issue, please post.

You could aways try uninstalling the current drivers and using ThinkVantage to reinstall them.
