Just thought I would let all owners with the switchable graphics know that on System Update there is a new version available. Hopefully it fixes the memory leak. I guess we'll have to see.
-
Not showing up for me...
I do see a new BIOS update though, just some minor fixes. -
-
What version number was the graphics update?
The bios update I just installed was 1.15-1.01 -
8.52.4.4 is the driver update. Also, this update really improved the 3D performance of my Thinkpad. In CoH my average fps increased by 7, and TF2 is now buttery smooth. Before TF2 was playable but a lil' on the choppy side.
-
Hmm... my current one is 8.52.4.3... I even tried turning on the ATI card but it still won't detect the update. Maybe I need to reinstall the lenovo provided switchable graphics driver. I may have tried updating the graphics drivers individually at one point, but the switchable graphics still works.

Anybody play Final fantasy XI?
-
Does everybody else see this update?
-
Wow, I'm really surprised by the TF2 framerate boost from that. Upped my settings from low to medium and runs better than before to boot.
-
how do i find this update since its not on lenovo's website? i did a clean install and didn't reinstall some productivity software...what exactly do i need?
-
thanks for the info..
-
I have the same question: how can I download it directly from lenovo's website?
Need I install the lenovo update software?
-
If someone who has installed the update could report back with the code for the update (go to c:\program files\lenovo\system update\session\ and look for the newest folder, should start with a number). Then we could all probably download it from ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/(CODE).exe
-
I also don't see the video update in System Update. I did have the BIOS update though. Maybe it has something to do with the OS that we use? I'm using Vista 32bit.
I followed what you said zachman123 and I just changed the number from the site:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7vd532ww.txt to
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7vd535ww.txt it appears to be the new driver.
The link to the driver (8.52.4.4) is:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7vd535ww.exe
It's not officially on the Lenovo site yet though, so use this at your own risk. -
hmm maybe i should wipe xp n give vista 64 nother go

I found the new video driver for windows xp:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7yd119ww.txt
Version 8.503.2.2-080818a-069536C-Lenovo
Issue date October 08, 2008
[Important updates]
Added installation support for ATI Mobility FireGL V5700
(Notes)
This driver release is intended to support installation for ATI
Mobility FireGL V5700 video chip. If your video chip is not ATI
Mobility FireGL V5700, it may not be necessary to update your driver.
It has the same version of the last driver for windows xp: 8.503.2.2-080818a-068350C-Lenovo. Appeartly the new version uses the same drivers from ATI and only adds the feature of supporting V5700.
So, W500 users are recommended to install the oct 8th's drivers so that the graph driver pannel will show correct name of V5700 instead of previous HD3650. T400 and T500 users do not need to update this driver because of no difference. -
BUT, when I click on that it does not work. BTW, as you can see with the version number, this update is for x64 Thinkpads.
If anyone knows a good hosting site, I could upload the files...problem is the update is ~130mb's -
ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7vd535ww.exe works for me. Don't know why it didn't show up in system update, but I'm trying it out now.
Seems to be for 32 and 64 bit, also glad to hear there's a new xp driver (I assume switchable graphics still doesn't work in xp though). -
