If anyone here has recently purchased a T series with integrated graphics that claimed to come with the intel X4500HD, would you mind confirming what that chipset is, and that the graphics chip really IS an intel x4500hd? If youre not sure how to do this, go to the System -> Device Manager and expand the System devices tab. The chipset is the field named "Intel ____ Processor to I/O Controller". The graphics chip should be under the tab labeled Display adapters. I would be very grateful if anyone could tell me how those two components are named in your device manager.

Im curious because the x4500hd is typically a desktop graphics chip, which is significantly more powerful than the 4500MHD that comes with the R400/500. However, the specs pdf on the lenovo site indicate that the T series comes with the 4500MHD as well. Even more confusingly, the R series specs claim that the R's come with the x4500hd.

Id be surprised if either actually offered the x4500hd, because that would seem to imply that the laptop was using a desktop-based g45 chipset. Is that even logistically possible, or is lenovo just trying to make the T series sound more powerful than the R series, when theyre really using the same chip?

It's worth noting that I may just be confused about something here. Half of my info is coming from the lenovo site and the other half is coming from wikipedia, which are both equally unreliable.

it does not mention it in the device manager, it just says intel 4 series....

I think MHD just means mobile HD

Thanks for replying, that screen shot seems to imply what I originally thought to be the case--both the current T and R series are probably both using the same 4500 MHD chip.

Im kind of curious why then, did lenovo feel the need to distinguish the T from the R series, by claiming the T series would have the intel x4500hd vs the 4500MHD. I ordered my T500 a few days ago under the assumption it would actually have the parts it claimed it would. If theyre going to put the same parts in different machines, I think it's a little unfair to try differentiating the machines by just changing what they call the parts.

I am actually glad it has the MHD, it has switchable graphics, so its better to have a more power efficient integrated gpu

Lenovo website is laden with errors
I called sales and they told me the difference between the R and T series is that the R series has restricted options, and is otherwise identical to the T series in build, unlike the SL series
