Hi guys, I just got my T400 today and it has the 9 cell. When I am using it on battery and only using the internet, I have a 15W power draw on integrated graphics, 1 bar of screen brightness and on the Max Battery Life Power Profile. I thought that it was supposed to be around 10W?? Can anybody give me any insight or suggestions about this?? Thanks.

Have you undervolted your CPU? Disabled any unnecessary hardware? Do you have LED screen? Are you on wireless?

    do not undervolt your cpu

yes, you should be getting less than 10w

power manager - global power settings-advanced uptions-cpu(automatic),PCI bus (automatic)
    may need a restart

They are already set that way. I have a WXGA+ CCFL Screen, and am on Wifi, and unnecessary hardware are all disabled.

Why not undervolt? It will further reduce power consumption, is free, easy, and safe.

Don't undervolt yet until you figure out why it is using so much power. Is the hard drive active? Because Vista likes to cache things up for a while with initial use.

hmm i am hoping it is because vista is currently indexing things... but i am not currently undervolting because i have the P8700, which uses half multipliers, which RMClock does not work with.

    I don't mean to hijack...

How can you tell how much power is being drawn? If a T400 on integrated graphics should draw no more than 12 W, what about a T500?

I would check on my T500, but it's still missing :)
