This seems to happen when i try to wake my unit from sleep mode ? it is also not asking for my password when this happens as it does from short periods of sleep . It seems to be when i try to wake after extended periods in sleep when i get BSOD .. Lenovo has not been much help so far,I tried one of their warranty centers on the phone he,s like bring it in "240 mile drive", i don't care to send it in for 2 weeks. I went to thier downloads web site an found a patch but their install instructions failed to work .
So is anyone else having this trouble or did i get a hangover machine built on Monday ?? BTW spec,s in my signature . This is my 1st Lenovo if it don't get better it'll sure be my last.

What is the BSOD error? Also a BSOD does not necessarily have anything to do with someone having an off day when building it...
Could be a software issue or hardware going bad. Have you installed anything recently?
And if you do not want to send it in for depot repair upgrade to onsite if you can or do it the next time.
You can always do a clean install too if you want to make sure you can control all aspects of software installed on the OS. -
bios version do you have?? Also try to change the SATA mode in BIOS from ACHI to compatibility to see whether that momentarily solves the problem. Also does your laptop uses the discrete or integrated GPU?
I had these problems with vista too when i got my Thinkpads, and the only way to resolve the software issue, is to restore to factory condition as said by Jaredy (go into your rescue and recovery console by pressing the blue thinkvantage button during startup, and choose to restore to full factory).
Try these solutions first, and we will see what happens. You can do a full system diagnostic from PC-Doctor 5, but i highly doubt it is a physical hardware problem.
Also do a memtest on your ram, there is that distinct possibility that ram modules maybe faulty. -
Can't believe i forgot to enter the error #0x000090860x000000 .
The only thing ive installed lately is a very simple program ( forge ahead ) that ive been running on an xp machine ,, but here's the catch with that i got the bsod before i installed this program , just didnt give it a lot of thought the 1st time thought maybe i caused it by trying to bring up task manager with the incorrect keys, was trying to get TM up because it wouldn't respond.
Ok i'm running intergrated, Intel 4500 MHD . Also why would i want to revert to ide , isnt that what switching from achi to compatibility would do ?
As for my Bios version its 2.16 ( 7UET 66WW ) Also i did get in touch with lenovo support guy who sent me to download the latest version of pc dr. and it checks out everything , hdd ,ram ,cpu, usb, mainboard .. It all came back clean .
Do you know if windows 7 will solve this ?? in the mean time i've set it to never sleep ,, it will not wake from sleep with fn or fn+f7 , I end up switching it off then rebooting its the only way to get it going again. Thanks guys -
we are simply trying to do a diagnostic here to pinpoint the problem, so have a try at the ACHI -> Compatibility mode, to see whether that works.
Not sure whether Win 7 will help. Have you tried to recover to factory condition as yet? -
Go to System Restore, and restore your machine to a date prior the first BSOD you've encountered.

Pardon the ignorant question ,, if i do a restore back to before the 1st bsod will i lose any current data ?
T400 Bsod
