    Hi everyone,

I am currently looking into purchasing a Thinkpad T400, but in my country (The Netherlands), there are only T400's available with screens with a CCFL backlight. My previous laptop was a Sony Vaio SZ1XP/C (SZ160), with LED backlight, so I am wondering whether I would be disappointed with the T400 I am looking at.

Does anyone have or know of pictures which preferably show two T400 screens next to eachother, one with LED backlighting, the other with CCFL?

I am aware of two advantages of LED backlighting: less power hungry and truer colours. But is there anything else I should think of?

That's perhaps not a fair comparison since the panels on the the T400s are significantly brighter than the T60.

    Thank you both for replying.

I will try to find the review you suggested zerosource, as well as googling a bit now and then to find some good comparison shots.

Thus far, I have not been able to find any good comparison shots. If anyone with a T400 with CCFL backlighting and another user with a T400 with LED backlighting would be willing to take a photograph or two with a similar setup, say, the windows desktop lighted by average indoor lighting, I would be very much in your debt.

I cant comment on a LED screen but im using a T400 CFFL and the display is very very good. I have no issues with it at all...its bright enough for me....

Thank you for your reply. Would you be able to take a photograph of a your laptop with the desktop? I just want to get an idea of how good it would look.

Also, have you had your laptop for a while? Have you noticed any degradation of the screen over time?

I might just be too picky here, but I prefer not buying a laptop unless I have convinced myself I've made the right choice. So far I like everything about the T400, but the CCFL backlight, though that may not be as much an issue as I fear/have been led to believe by people raving about LED backlight ;)
