    Hey guys,

Been having some weird issues with my T400 graphics lately. Whenever I'm using the Intel Chipset for graphics, I keep getting these random lines running through my screen:

I dunno why its happening -- doesnt seem like the computer is warm, nor am i running anything super intensive.

Also here's my driver version number: 8.520.4.5000

Try update the drivers if there are any newer ones or older versions available.

If the issue is still there after that, you might have a real problem.

If driver update doesn't fix it then it's time to call Lenovo.

The old 8.52.4.5 driver you have, had such a lot of problems with or without external monitor with or without dock that I wouldn't be certain it's hardware until you have first installed the current 8.563 driver.

Nup, even if you experience artifacts, you can screenshot them.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread; I'm just wondering if the OP was ever able to resolve this issue. I currently have a very similar, if not identical problem.

It started shortly after I first installed Win 7 and was not able to make the switchable graphics work without rebooting. One time after switching to the intel chip, windows detected some driver crash on start up (or something similar, I cannot recall) which it was not able to fix.

Recently I tried reinstalling Win 7; and now with seemingly all the driver updates the issue still occurs.

I have not experienced any graphics related issues on ubuntu linux, which is my primary OS.

Here is what is going on. Based on past posts I'm going out on a limb and assuming you are using mismatched memory (such as 2+1GB modules). There is a bug in the driver where using mismatched memory will cause what you are seeing. There are two ways of fixing this. First would be to go into the BIOS and turn off switchable graphics then download and install the latest intel x4500 drivers. If you need ATi you can still just reboot and switch in the bios.

Second option would be to pick up a second 2gb memory module.

It sucks that Lenovo STILL has not fixed their driver. I'm still waiting patiently for them to fix the sleep issue with switchable graphics. Best of luck

I am indeed using mismatched memory...

    Thanks a lot.
