After getting my T400 I have been uninstalling liberal amounts of Thinkvantage apps and drivers. However, I have discovered that my hotkeys: Fn+F2 (Lock Computer), Fn+F3 (Power Manager), WiFi, UltraNav, etc no longer work. Does anyone know which specific drivers/apps are needed to get these working again and have I screwed myself over because the hotkey app requires a very specific installation order? Thanks!

run system update to see what thinkvantage items you are missing. if you dont have it, you can re download it from www.lenovo.com under support

system update will take your system id and only show you updates that apply to your system

off the top of my head you need at least:

    on screen display
    hotkey driver/app
    lenovo interface driver

I dont think you need a specifc order.

when you turn the volume up/down, do you see the green volume bars on screen? also for screen brightness?

if you do then its installed. if not there should be something for it that goes by the name of on screen display

    now check out

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70439

to see the list manually. install the hotkey utility (reinstall it) then reboot

or download, install and run system update and post what you see under the first 3 tabs (critical updates, suggested updates, etc..)

i have a t61 and I dont think there is an order. but on a t60 fixed a while back I had to do:

    chipset
    reboot
    wifi
    reboot
    hotkey
    reboot
    display
    reboot
    onscreen display
    reboot
    audio + everything else
    reboot

it was something like the order above. I cant remember exactly. but it was for a clean install. I dont think you'd have the same problem.

Yea, strangely i've lost my on screen brightness level display too...the sound volume display still works...the HotKey driver includes the "on screen display" component...i just performed a clean vista install and i distinctly recall the brightness osd working because i noticed i didn't have to have the brightness level set as high for the same level of screen brightness as my XP install...

tried re-installing the System Interface, as well as the HotKey driver, but it didn't bring back the brightness osd...

    EDIT:

like others, the brightness osd wouldn't display on a system restart, but after closing and opening the lid or coming out of sleep, the osd works...

others have stated there could be a conflict with the graphics drivers...initially i had performed a clean vista install using Intel's integrated graphics driver...when i re-installed lenovo's most current (but older than intel) display driver, the brightness osd works all the time now...hope that helps others!
