Coming from my T42 that had a ROCK solid keyboard, when I read the news of the redesigned keyboard I placed an order for a T60 keyboard immediately. Now, I've heard that the reason that the redesigned thinkpad keyboard has the machined holes is to reduce weight/increase cooling. My question is, if I replace the T400 keyboard with a T60 keyboard will that negativily effect the cooling in my new thinkpad and thus reduce the life of it?

Cooling? The holes are covered with plastic as part of the system where liquid spills go out the drains and not onto the motherboard.
Those holes won't have any affect on cooling. -
Cool, thanks!

Just got my new T400 today, two days ahead of schedule.
Cannot comment on the older series keyboards. But this T400 does
have flex when normal typing, at least for me around the left side.
IE keys around 2-4 and down to S-F.
The right side seems more solid.
Will I replace it with a T61 model? Not sure yet...
If it wasnt for this website, I probally would never of known that
it was an issue
