I've had my T400 for about three years now. I originally purchased it with a 9Cell Battery which shorted after about a year and I had to get rid of. The laptop sat for a year or so, then I got it out this last Fall and bought a new battery. That battery is now dead, and the Laptop states when I try to boot with it that it has a critical low battery.
What is going on to kill off two batteries that shouldn't have dyed yet?

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Could be bad batteries or a short on your system. Have you tried testing out your AC adapter?

Does the power manager say that the newer battery has failed? Also is it a sanyo?
"critical low battery" sounds more like the battery has a low charge, that's why i ask if it's actually failed. it may say that because it has a low charge that you can't drain, though. -
Your first batt. couldve been a fluke. Is your second batt. genuine lenovo?

I need a new battery for my T400. Is there a good aftermarket brand?

6-cell LGC:
LENOVO T61 / R61 / T400 6-CELL LAPTOP BATTERY 10.8V 42T4653 / 42T4549 NEW JG b | eBay
9-cell sanyo:
LENOVO T61 / R61 / T400 9-CELL LAPTOP BATTERY 10.8V 42T4644 / 42T4531 NEW JG c | eBay
(i am not the seller)
the LGC will last you more cycles, probably. the sanyo will die around 300-350 but that's still good for a year or two of normal usage.
