I wanted a 1280x800 LED display for this model but they dont offer it so I would be stuck with the standard at this resolution, I worried about the washed out display look after a year of use on the standard ccfl as Ive read on some past posts.

My question is will the standard display good enough or should I wait for the T500 to come out with the LED for the1280x800 resolution?

My previous notebook had a 13” screen and did 1280x800—the T400 has a 14” screen, can do 1440x900 and I happen to like it much more. 1280x800 was too small and, IMHO, is a waste on a 14” screen. If 1440x900 makes fonts too small for you, unlike XP, Vista can actually increase the DPI/scale these properly. While you can also set the resolution of the T400 to 1280x800, it doesn’t look as good.

My recommendation? Go LED, 1440x900 and don’t look back. CCFL will be nearly dead in a few years.
