I ordered a LED T400 on February 18th my estimate ship date is still March 20th just wondering about actual ship dates for any one that ordered before of after me. Not even sure if any T400 LED laptops are shipping at all?

I too suffer the LED wait woes. Perhaps Lenovo should invest in some IBM equipment for tracking and updating inventory at their various "warehouses", as in "according to the latest update from our warehouse..." My order placed 2/10 to ship 2/20. Now 3/6, 3/12, 3/19...3/24! It would be totally rude for the cust serv person to just hang up on the customer, so I think the "critical list" is code for "part not yet left warehouse."

There are rumors that there are serious shortages of the WXGA+ LED screen used in the T400, so take the estimated ship date with a grain of salt.

That's the price you pay for a 680-nit display! :) Is it even possible to dim it to the point where it's not too bright for indoor use? Considering that the base WXGA CCFL is 185-nit, WXGA+ CCFL is 200-nit and (temporarily unavailable) WXGA+ LED is 250-nit...

I have been told several times by several different reps that my T400 would ship on certain dates. Unfortunately, these dates have passed, and I still have not received the notebook. I placed my order on 2/11, and the latest estimated ship date (from phone call) is 3/17. I have very little confidence that the T400 will ship by then. I have also been placed on the "critical list" NUMEROUS times.

I would think you could dim it effectively.

My x200 Tablet (and presumably this model as well) has 15 steps for brightness. At the highest level it is almost unsuable indoors, but fantastic as a slate under sunlight or extremely harsh fluorescent overhead lighting. The bottom 4 levels are almost unusable in anything but a pitch black room (at the bottom level the backlight is extremely close to being off).

One of the 680nit T400's 15 levels (probably 6-9) should roughly equate to the other display options in terms of brightness.

I placed my order for a T400 on Feb/10 and in the exactly same situation from those ESDs to even the critical list.

It's been delayed more than a month and hope I will receive a confirmation mail for shipping on my T400 by 3/17.

I called today and was told that my order would ship sometime during the week of the 23rd. On Friday, I was told that the order would ship no later than the 17th. I informed the rep of the previous status (ESD of the 17th), and the rep went on hold to "investigate further". The rep then came back and said that it was their mistake, and that the order would ship on the 17th because I was on the "priority list". I will be shocked if my order actually ships on the 17th.

Has anyone even seen if the 680 nit T400 screen is even worth getting? The 300 nit one was not worth getting in my opinion because of the poor viewing angles.

Im on the critical priority list too but after many delays, now Im skeptical about the existence of any such list. Hope they weren't just trying to get me off the phone in the absence of any useful status information for me.

    Aloha:

I got a cash credit to my account for the hassle and wait on my order. Not much, but in principle is much appreciated.

I recently called and a Lenovo CSR told me that a realistic ship date is 4/1 or 4/2. Keep in mind that I placed the order on 2/11.

It is interesting to see that those with orders for T500s are also waiting. I have serious doubts on receiving the machine anytime soon. In the past weeks, I have also see the phone support hours shrink significantly. One can no longer call on the weekend. I am curious if production is actually operating at 100 percent.

btw, how did Aloha get the cash credit? maybe all of us been waiting so long are entitiled for the cash credit? can you share your experience?

My CSR for the day, and I think I have met all of them, made the offer. I called, politely stated order number, name on order, and asked to be transferred directly up to the next available supervisor. Couple minutes later a pleasant guy at the call center took my call, reviewed my order and patiently listened to my situation (student, upgrade needed from current machine...not a sob story, just real-life frustrations) and the offer was made. It's a token amount, the principle of the matter is the key here. Admission of fault in a sense, though compliant with one of the core values Lenovo ascribes to. That's my story, sticking to it, and wish this not to be construed as an incitement to organize and rebel.
    Best of fortune,
    Kawika

I have an ESD of 3/24, and has been that since the original order ESD on 2/20 rolled over to 3/24. Is that ESD figured from China or North America, what with the international date line and all? Here it is six weeks and am picking over a day. Ah, icing on the cake. And, yes it is the WXGA+ B/L LED that is the hold up. Every time I see someone posting re: their newly received T400 (without specifying build)...grrrrrrr.

For my money, I think I am going to start looking at C|Net, ZDNet, and NYTimes Technology section (online) for any news regarding these screens. On another forum it was posted there were NO 14.1" screens available at all for T400's, the veracity of which is unverified.

well i was told by a rep yesterday to ignore the online shipping date and that it would ship the 26th of march, he said his date was directly from there supply team. we will see what happens, if the date gets moved again my best bet for getting a 1440x900 led screen is to cancel my order and get a x200s.

What is interesting is that I spoke with a CSR about 2 hours before checking the status online, and she told me that my computer is being "packed" and has been "confirmed to ship 3/25/09". Two hours later it has been delayed 1.5 weeks. ***Sigh***
