Is anyone else encountering the follow issue:

When rebooting a T400 running Windows 7 64-bit and performing a restart after shutting down, does the compute appear to be off for 10-15s and then begin the boot sequence?

FYI, I updated to the latest BIOS today (3.09) could it be that I installed W7 prior to the BIOS being released that actually supported it?

    Any ideas?

I think Windows 7 makes the computer restart 'slower' (10-15 seconds), I dont know why but I'd say is normal.

I am the same issue. It is definitely driver related. I had a clean build of Win 7 64 bit, and it restarted fast....after a couple driver, blech it takes 10-15 seconds once it shuts down to restart. Horrible.

This happens with T500 as well.

Even on a clean build, so it's not driver, but rather BIOS. ANd I am running latest BIOS.

Can't believe such a glaring bug got by Lenovo QA.

    Please fix.

My restart times have been about the same for Vista x64 and 7 x64 (currently installed on both of my ThinkPads). I have to admit that the boot screen does take a bit longer to show up when compared to other manufacturers. The overall boot time, however, isn't necessarily longer, especially with Windows 7.

This is not the shutdown or boot time.

This is specifically when you RESTART the laptop. After the shutodown (all drives and comm lights go out), the system takes about 15 seconds before it powers up again, shows the Thinkpad splash screen, and starts to boot Windows.

This was not happening with Vista.

    Something drastic was changed.

EDIT: Well, I did went back and removes all the drivers, and reloaded the current Win drivers, and reinstalled. The delay is now 5 seconds instead of 15, which I think is on par for what would be expected.

Now, if I could only get the switchable graphics working...Lenovo Win 7 driver keeping failing on ATI driver install...

Okay, then add restart to what I was saying: my start, shutdown, restart times have all remained the same, if not become faster, when compared to Vista. On one machine I installed the drivers myself, on the other I used TVSU.

Mind you, it only happens when you reboot (restart) the PC. If you start it up from a totally off state it seems normal.
