My T400 is less than one month old. It works perfect when plugged in, but noticeable noise appears when unplugged.
It sounds not like the dust in fan, also cosidered having it for 3 weeks, it shouldn't....

So, does any one here have the same problem? Is that suppose to be noisy without power adaptor?
    Thanks for any reply.

Your TP suffers from, so called, cpu or coil whine.

Try use Rmclock and disable C4 states of cpu, when on battery.
This will reduce whine, but also battery time.

    Thanks Andreas,
Could you explain more? Like where I can find the Rmclock thing.
    Thanks again.
