    T400 Sim Card Slot

    what the heck is it for? can i put my sim card with a data plan for my iphone on it?

    Its for the optional integrated AT&T WAN Card.

    If you do not have this add-on, the sim card slot has no use.

    This slot is commonly found in WAN capable notebooks, and like stooley said, it has no use unless you have the WAN card in the notebook.

    does it have anything to do with the intel wifi5300? i got that as an option cause i heard something about wimax...and i heard something about sim cards and wimax?

    5300 has nothing to do with wimax - 5350 has wimax. And the sim card slot, again, is useless without a WAN card.
