Anyone thinking about this? It looks like the batteries for the T400/T500 are a physical match for a T61p. It's just a matter of whether the connections will match up. Also if this does work, anyone think that there'll be any gains in battery life?

I don't think you would see any battery life gains, except those caused by buying a new battery.

Just hard to imagine that Lenovo managed to make that big a change in battery life due to new the new montevina processors, graphics switching, LED screens or whatever. The Lenovo estimate for battery life on a T61p is 5.9 hours, but the T400 is nearly 3 hours more than that. I guess that we'll just have to wait and see.

    SSD Drive

LED Screen (I think ~15% more efficient than CCFL)
    DDR3 (30% less power consumption)

Then we can just consider the power savings on the chipset alone and it's easy to see them improving the battery life by that margin. The industry is totally focused in on power these days. If you get a BSEE with an emphasis on power, you can pretty much write your own ticket.

This is Centrino 2. New idling technologies enable tremendous savings in battery power.

Anyone know if the 9-cell for the T400 will fit the T61 14" widescreen? It looks much smaller than my current gigantic 9-cell.
