Anyone know what this number is? I noticed all the magnetic disks are rated at 1.5 Gbps, but the SSD is 3.0 Gbps. If I purchased a 3.0 Gbps drive, would I realize the full throughput or is the controller only capable of 1.5 Gbps?

The SATA I and SATA II interfaces are limited by the disk read and write speed so at the moment there really isnt any difference.

Well, for a SSD vs a traditional hard disk yes, but as far as their actual interfaces, no disk drive can currently max out the bandwidth of SATA I.

Also, while the latest SSD drives might have faster read speeds, they are slower when it comes to writes.
