    Hello all.
I currently have the Lenovo Thinkpad T500 and it's currently on a clean install of Vista (w/ SP1).
The system shows that the device for reading the SD cards is called "Ricoh SD/MMC Host Controller". However I was only able to read regular SD cards on this device and not higher capacity SDHC cards. The device will blink once and then turns off for SDHC cards but constantly lit for SD cards.
Does anyone have the same problem? Is the problem with my device?
P.S. I have tried applying the KB949126 patch with no success.
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance!

You can also test the SDHC card using a live-demo of Linux (e.g. the Ubuntu LiveCD). If the card works in Linux, that tells you that it is a windows (software/driver) problem, rather than a hardware problem. I also have Ricoh reader (R5U880FlashMedia [Driver 6.0.6001.18000]) on my x200 and I can read SDHC cards just fine in Vista/XP/Ubuntu. You probably lost the driver during you clean install.

I have just tried the Ubuntu LiveCD. The SDHC card still doesn't work. Anyone has the T500 and a SDHC card to test?
    Thanks!

If it doesn't work in Ubuntu, then I am pretty sure you have a hardware problem. SDHC is not compatible with SD readers (although SD is compatible with SDHC readers). I would suggest calling Lenovo and seeing if you can get the reader replaced. SDHC should work with the T400, it works just fine on my x200 (I've used an OCZ SDHC 8GB Class 6 card, as well as an old Kingston 256MB SD card, both worked great, without any effort on my part in Vista/XP/Ubuntu).

Glad to hear it. I figured it was a hardware problem.
