T400/T500 owners!!

Is this confirmed true? Lenovo.com still shows the T400 with 3640... just a bit confused about this 3470 vs. 3640 thing.

Hey, it's going to be ok....ur 1GB will do fine until the time price drop....then you can get the 3GB or the 4GB

 

My T400 shipped on Aug. 21 (ordered 8/5, with an expected ship date of 8/26). I was excited yesterday to see that it had made it to Louisville, KY. But today UPS says it's back in China! I assume it was never really in Louisville, but it's still frustrating.

 

Mine is not shipped yet....they said it would be shipped between 23rd and 26th

Does T400 come with much crapware? I do not want intrusive programs to slow me down.

Perhaps this has been answered before, but can we still select what to install from the recovery partition?

IIRC, a member said that the custom install feature is not available on the new models, but there is a lot less preinstalled software.

 

When do you plan on updating the XP clean install for the T400?

 

In about a week. I plan on installing Vista then, so I'll write up a quick diddy on my whole procedure for that as well.

I held out buying a notebook until now because I was hoping the screens on these notebooks would improve on the T61

 

Unfortunately, probably not. My T61 is still in mint condition and I can see it lasting a few more years.

 

I am excited to order my first laptop, a T400, tomorrow morning. Here is what I configured. Any big reason to upgrade the wireless card to the 5300?

i would about 1/4 better on the t400 because of the gpu, screen and other components.

have a few complaints though, the fact that the GPU is underclocked, seems kind of stupid to use an overclocked card (3450 OC -> 3470) only to underclock it by more than half.

quality is sort of lacking in some places, the palm rest on the right is sort of flimsy, i can lift the plastic up if i wanted to and when my palm is actually resting on it i can feel the plastic pressing down because its not fully attached/glued/whatever. also the plastic on the left side (with the speaker, above the vga,ethernet port) sort of clicks with pressure, but the right does not.

thinklight is retarded, not really practical, screen needs to be at like 90 degrees to actually light up the keyboard, and when it does its only the left side :|

my backspace button makes a creeking sound...

screen is only average, but its CCFL so i dont blame it (WXGA+ CCFL)

despite all those negatives, this is by far the best notebook ive ever owned, better than my previous dv4, toshiba, etc. performance is great with the p8600 and ddr3. the fan is also quiet, which is a huge plus for me being a silence buff. also i have no keyboard of palm rest flex problems like others are experiencing.

overall it was a great buy for $722 and i dont regret it

 

3 weeks+ on the clock of my t400 and going strong.

 

I ordered mine on 6/11, USAPatriot. It just cleared US Customs this morning, I'm betting it will arrive Tuesday (6/23).

Well, it does ship direct from China.

Fortunately, they clear relatively quickly. Probably due to being part of a larger shipment from a corporation.

guys how to check my warranty? is it intertational / local only?

 

If you look on lenovo's site, i think there is a warrenty lookup. Go to lenovo's site, under support and download there should be a link that says "Warrenty and license"...Click that, and it should have a list of options to choose from to upgrade your warrenty, etc. Choose the first one that says "Warrenty lookup". It'll ask for your type and serial number.

 

thx m8 i've check my warranty it told me that it is cover till march 2012 but i just buy it like 13th of june 2009
i also get the warranty paper and it included my purchase date i just hope no problem with the warranty
