    Hey all,

I want to buy a laptop in the near future and I was wondering whether I should buy it ASAP due to the discounts, or wait more.

I'm from Canada and thus can't buy from the outlet, however with the recent EPP discounts I can get the following T500 model with $736 CAD new.

    T500 2.26Ghz 3MB L2 cache
    2GB DDR3 RAM
160GB HD 5400rpm (will probably change it)
    Integrated X4500 Intel

adding 1650 res and 2.5Ghz CPU will be ~+$100

From what I've seen i7 is coming in Q1 2010, but it'll probably be way out of my budget. Will the current models drop more till Christmas?

    Thank you for reading :)

If you like the deal then get it. I would guess there will be some better deals for the holidays if you can wait.

As constantly said on this forum, if you need it now buy it now. If you wait for a better deal you'll constantly be waiting or a new platform will be out soon. Buy it when you need it because something better/cheaper is always around the corner.

Save a quote if you plan on waiting a few weeks.

some deals are once in a lifetime, if you wait too long then you will get nothing.

I can only offer this comment. I bought a T400 last year, when it was on sale, and the same config laptop, a year later, is only 10% cheaper (on sale). I'm happy to have had a year's use, and the price difference was, to me, nominal.

I would not wait; you have 21 days after ship date to do a price match claim. So get what you want, and enjoy.

Prices on the current generation T-series laptops are already much lower than they were at launch, so I would not expect them to fall that much during the holiday season. Probably the most significant price drops will come in January/February around the time of the introduction of the new T-series laptops, but I doubt you want to wait that long.

Theoretically, yes. Lenovo, however, is very tight on these price-matches (as are all manufacturers, really), and will only grant you a price-match if the product code of every component on your laptop is identical to that of the cheaper laptop you want to price-match. That means that, if for some reason the part number of, say, the Bluetooth module changes due to the use of a different manufacturer's Bluetooth module, you are out of luck.

If you have EPP access, you're getting the best price there is.

I don't know any Lenovo employees personally, I went through the CPP program, and found an applicable 5% coupon on top of the CPP discount, which I'd guess brought it close.

T400/500 prices may go down slightly just prior to release of the T410/510, but as everyone said, if you need it, buy it. If you don't, wait until you need it, or until your want outweighs your ability to wait. :D

The T400 I ordered on 9/21 from CPP plus 5% discount code is $150 less than the current price of an identical setup from CPP plus 10% discount. So, there's better deals out there than what's out there today..
