I haven't seen any BIOS screens so far but I'd like to know if it is possible to change frequency related settings in the BIOS of the T400/T500?

No. Only select gaming or boutique laptops can overclock via the BIOS; most manufacturers don't include this function to protect the product from the consumer, as ironic as it sounds.

Well it doesn't sound ironic to me. The product was sold at a particular specification, i.e. to run at 2.4 ghz. It would be silly for the manufacturer to let consumers overclock easily which could cause CPU to fail prematurely.

It sounds pretty logical actually as some people would just screw it over and put the load on lenovo customer service.
