Sometimes touchpad just suddenly stopped responding (cursor completely dead) and I had to restart PC, then it works again. Mine has Vista 32bit. Anyone had this issue too?

I've seen the issue, and worked on some. I believe that either your touchpad may be going out, or the cpu becomes over-burdened with applications or processes, causing a significant delay in the response time. Do you have an option of adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad?

My sister uses a toshiba with a 32-bit vista operating system, and she's told me she's had problems with the touchpad.

never had it happen in my t400.
I'd have this taken care of while still under warranty
the TP is one of the best things about the thinkpads!

MAJOR EDIT: I was referring to the touchpoint, not the touchpad.
    still, I'd get it fixed

and the fact that you said it comes back after a reboot is evidence that the cable is not loose.

However, a quick check under the hood (4 screws) will tell you if it is. that's what I'd do first

    Hi,

I also experienced this problem sometimes - often, when my machine has an extreme cpu load. Surprisingly the track point works always.
IMO this is a problem with the mouse driver.

    Greetz!
