I've taken advantage of my last few months of being a college student by snagging the Digital River Windows 7 Professional upgrade edition for $30. I'm wanting to upgrade the hard drive on my T400 at the same time I install Win7. Would I have to install Vista on the new HDD for the upgrade edition to detect it and install?

Additionally, this is the HDD I'm looking at buying:

    Thoughts?

To be honest, I booted from upgrade DVD and didn't install through the OS so maybe you could do that on the new HDD?

I've read that it scans the hard drive for a current Windows install.

When I put the DVD in, all it did was ask me which partition to put it on, during which I deleted the partition that my current Windows was installed on, and installed on that free space.
