This has been a major PITA for me some time, and before I waste any more energy trying to fix switchable graphics - i.e. being able to switch between discrete and integrated graphics in windows - I just want to know if it's at all possible.

    Cheers!

Lenovo currently does not provide switchable graphics drivers for Windows 7, and it has been a long going process on the Lenovo driver development team to release it.

That is not quite correct. Switchable graphics does work in Windows 7. You switch via Power Manager (and make sure it is enabled in BIOS). It works fine on my T500 with Win 7 x64.

There are supposedly some bugs i.e. when coming out of standby. Choosing hibernate instead seems to work fine.

Lenovo is still working on releasing bug free drivers. They were planning to release them some time ago, but it seems they are still facing some challenges.

I'm using W7 x64 and I easily get switchable graphics to work. Just use System Update to install all needed drivers. Well, switchable graphics on W7 has a flaw (resume problem), but it does work

    it's just wrong!!!

have you ever searched about it?

See this thread! Switchable graphics runs very reliably for me on my T500 with that driver fix, although I do have the problem where I can't adjust display brightness on discrete graphics, but that's not a big issue for me.

It’s a shame Lenovo has so blatantly dropped the ball here. Then again, the way they switch drivers with this hardware amounts to little more than a Windows hack—so this is not surprising…

Using the T400 and W7 x64, only issue is being unable to change brightness on discrete graphics.

Use system update and it'll work

When you experience the inability to change brightness, try this:

Switch to integrated and then back to discrete again. This works for me. I have only encountered the issue after resume from hibernate, but again it is easily fixed with the switching.
