UPS rang my door bell at 9:15am EST to deliver my T400. Ok, this is funny, Lenovo shipped the computer overnight despite that I ordered ground shipping. Plus, this is the same laptop that I tried to canceled. There must be something up with their supply chain.

Anyway, the laptop is beautiful. We are photographers and wanted a new notebook on the road to replace our Macbook Pro 17" that we sold. The screen is as bright as the MBP and colors looked great. We still have to calibrate it to see the final result. The case is very solid and even with a 9 cell battery, I found the weight to be compatible to a 15" mbp. I took some photos and posted them below:

Nice!!!! Just a question, how does the keyboard feel? Does it flex like in the T400 `first looks` review?

Yes, the keyboard flexs only when you push down with higher pressure. My wife's T41 is much better. In regards to the 9 cell battery, I haven't had enough time to test it, but it's not as big as I thought it would be.

I can't understand why lenovo changed the keyboard, but it doesn't sound so bad. Hopefully it's something that won't be noticeable during normal use/typing.

hi, just want to ask, does T400 has HDMI ports? I don't know whether they're really that important...

No, it only has VGA out.

Are you going to hook your laptop up to an HDTV for any reason? Other than that, it's not that important.

No, you won't able to notice the keyboard flexing under normal typing. I even tried to push my palm down and see if I could take a photo of it but cannot be done.

Ok, more about the screen, I compared with my wife's notebook T41 or T42. The screen is much brighter and does not wash out as much. However, I can still see the white washout effect that mbp didn't have. I have the 14.1 LED backlit.

    Aww, you lucky you.

Maybe you can run some benchmarks and post the scores here? I am dying to know about PCmark and 3Dmark scores of t400.

The T400 looks great. What camera did you use? I think the new style of the 9-cell looks really ugly!

Yes, the battery is ugly. I just did a clean install of windows xp and my 200gb 7200rpm but have no drivers for the video card. Anyone knows where I can download them from?

I used the 1DmkIII with 17-40mm lens on the shot.

T41or42 and T400 both on the brightest LCD setting

    1440x900. I don't remember the T400 offer a higher res model.

Looking great. Thanks for the pictures.

Please let us know on the battery life of the 9-cell. I know NBR said 7-8hrs, but it seemed too good to be true.

s200hku: now that you've seen first hand the brightness of the LED screen on your T400, would you reccomend that one upgrade from a T61 to a T400?

I.e. in your opinion, is the difference so great that it would be stupid to settle for a T61 now? (especially if prices were similar?)

    Thanks

Can you check a couple of things for me:

Is the 9 cell battery loose? Does it feel like it is solid in the laptop?
Can you confirm if the card reader is a 4in1 or a 7in1?
Did you get a WWAN option?

Yeah I thought about calling them and complaing, because it says 7in1 on the website, but under "order status" it shows 4in1, not a deal killer, but still I can't stand there typos

absolutely you should upgrade to led. It looks far better than the t41. The card reader looks nice to be a 4-1, it's quite filmsy.

Well, that sucks. I picked that option because it was 7-1 and would have a CF card reader. I'm sure the 4-1 doesn't have CF capacity and will be of no use to me

are you kidding??????i REALLY hate lenovo right now their sutomer support is horrendous. I ordered a smiliar T400 at 9 am the day it came out with a 9 cell battery. the ESD was 8/26. they then changed the ESD to 9/28 due to "battery shortages." I then changed my order upon the recommendation of my slaes rep to a 6 cell battery to allow it to ship when it was supposed to. Is that going to happen? no. ESD 9/12. Its still better than it was but that pisses me off that they were able to ship you a T400 with a 9 cell earlier than expected when you even cancelled your order, could they ship me one in that time when i need it before i leave for school? no they couldnt they said 9/28 esd 9/26 at the earliest. this really makes me want to cancel my order and switch to sony or something. WAY TO GO LENOVO...
