I have a Lenovo T400 with the battery set to charge at 64% and stop at 95%, however charging seems to ignore those limits as my battery is always at 100% when it is plugged in. This is only one of the problems I am having... the other is that when the notebook is running on battery it shuts off at around the 1 hour remaining mark. Not a hibernate or sleep, nor is there a warning that battery is low. The system just shuts down where Windows 7 displays a message that the system did not shut down properly. Anyone seen this happen and/or have a resolution? I have tried the battery maintenance option in the ThinkPad Power Manager, but no luck there.

This happens when the some of the battery cells are dead.

What? How does something like this happen? Is there a possible fix or workaround?

haven't seen any work around for this problem other than replacing the battery.
