What is the part number for the T400 batteries (4, 6, and 9 cells)?

And, are there any places that sell reliable generic batteries for thinkpads?

The tabook lists it as a valid accessory.

    Lew (anyone),

Could you help; reading this tabbook gives me a headache. ;-)

Basically, I want to get a T400, but want to put an additional hard drive into the UltraBay. My understanding is the one used on the T60 series will not work (this was noted in the review, I am not sure if it is true).

The specs in the tab book seem to indicate an Ultrabay with a hdd is supported, but I cannot figure out the part number for the tray itself (I sure hope they don't force you to buy a hdd with the trays like Dell does (or used to).

    Thanks in advance.

EDIT - I think I answered my own question: part 43R1980, right? Of course, it's out of stock...

Correct, the T60/61 part won't work -- and yes, you have the correct part number for the T400/T500.

It seems to be quite orderable -- $39.96 through CPP with free standard shipping.

Mine is enroute and left Anchorage yesterday. Guessing I'll see it Friday or Monday. See my thread here: ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter II

I've changed to OOS...I can't find it in stock anywhere. What is CPP?

    Thanks!

And if anyone cares about weight ...
    4.7lb w/ 4 cell battery
5.0lb w/ 4 cell battery and DVD optical drive
5.4lb w/ 6 cell battery (and possibly the optical drive too)

I just checked again and it's showing as orderable for me through CPP. I put it in my cart and went through the ordering process stopping short of putting in my credit card info and hitting "place order".

Google is a very useful tool: lenovo what is CPP

Thanks for the info. No need to be snarky about Goggle. I did a search on CPP (which I thought was a company) with variations on CPP, computer, parts, 43R1980, etc.), and nothing relevant came up (except cpponline.com)
Hence the question of "what is CPP". (My bad for not putting in Lenovo.)

I just looked on that site... 43R1980 is not showing up anywhere. Obviously, I am doing something wrong, and would appreciate specifically where/how you are finding it on the Lenovo CPP site.

    Thanks.

EDIT: Found it, with no help from the site; their search is broken. The item is called ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter II. Even if you search, it won't pop up first. Nor will it come up by part number search. You have to sort by price and page through to find it. 1-2 weeks out to get it, but can be ordered.

Apologies for a little snarkiness, just gets frustrating sometimes when the info is so easily available.

Even eliminating CPP, just go to lenovo.com (I'm in the US), click on "Accessories and Upgrades" under the Products heading. Enter "43R1980" in the box under "Find Accessories / Search within accessories". Click the green GO button next to the box. See the "ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter II" show up and click on the "Add to Cart" button underneath it.

Procedure is same for lenovo.com/cpp except you need the magic code (you likely now have it) and you save $10.

The ultrabay battery works perfectly in my T400.
