I've had my T400 for about a year and a half and have loved it. I'm currently running Windows 7 64-bit and it works great for the most part. However occasionally, like every other week or so, the system starts to beep. The beep is repetitive, almost like a clicking, not as loud as the power or password beep, just about once per second. It doesn't follow any of the patterns on Lenovo's support site ( http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-46018.html). It's just a straight constant beeping. After it begins to beep like this, it freezes up and I have to power cycle the system. Some times I can actually switch windows, or click something before the system actually freezes, but generally it happens within a few seconds. My laptop is almost always on and often I come back to find it beeping and frozen. Any idea as to what this could be? Sadly my system is no longer under warranty. :(

If it is on all the time, have you cleaned the cooling system?

Have you updated the Bios? I used to have that on my T400 w/ Windows 7 but a bios update fixed it. Download and run System Update 4 from Lenovo ( www.lenovo.com/support) and see if you need it. Also be sure to get the latest drivers from System Update as well.

Thanks for the BIOS update tip. Seems like I just updated it, but I guess it was a couple months ago and there's a newer version. Hopefully that does the trick!
