is this t400 for $330 a bargain or should I pass.
keep in mind this is Australia, THinkpads here are a lot dearer than in the States.

In Melbourne you can get a R400 for around 219 dollars on gumtree.com.au, as such the T400 at 329 dollars isn't really a bargain.
Also, the screen resolution is low and the CPU isn't that top end.
Furthermore, i would avoid the switchable graphics of that generation, for some reason there is some issue where the ATI graphics card on the motherboard can detach, which causes a dead unresponsive laptop. Not sure how often this occurs, but i have seen enough of them to want to stay clear of it.
I have both a R400 and T400 at home, personally i think the R400 is a better buy for home use (if that is what you are aiming for or giving to your parent). -

T400 isnt a bargain at that price even in AU. The only way I think it would be some what of a good bargain is if the specs were a bit higher and the unit was in absolute mint condition.
