I have a year old T400. The majority of time that I wake it up from sleep or hibernate it has issues connecting to the internet. I usually have to click on the bottom right of the screen on the taskbar and connect manually. Even then it still has issues quite a bit.

I know it is not the internet. I can connect with my itouch and the rest of my family is usually on as well.

Any ideas? Anything I can do?

I am letting Windows 7 control my wifi at the moment but I am considering switching back to Lenovo's program. Good Idea? I've forgotten which Lenovo program runs wifi. Which one would I need to download or look for on my computer?

Access connection runs the wifi. My T400 does this too in win 7 for some odd reason. Did you set the internet connection as work, home or public?

Now that you ask. I am pretty sure it only does it at home. I use it in my school library and don't think that I've had this issue...

My home is set as home and all my other networks I access are public for the most part.

try changing the security to work or something, test to see whether that affects the performance.

It is telling me, "windows could not set the network settings. You can try to change this setting later in the Network and Sharing Center."

I am trying to change it in the Network and Sharing Center?

My T400 reconnects automatically, and the network is set as Home but I use the Intel 5100. FYI, I also use a Linksys router.

I also use a linksys router.

In the past it really was not an issue. Recently though I have been connecting to wireless networks manually pretty often.

Would switch to access connections fix it?

I have zero issues with my Wi-Fi, but when I used Access Connections, I had constant issues. I recommend upgrading your wireless card driver to the latest version to see if that addresses your issue. If not, trying making certain your Wireless Access Point is using the latest firmware available. Lastly, some Access Points are notorious with regard to power saving issues—you might want to try disabling Power Management on your wireless card in Windows’ Device Manager.

switch roaming aggressiveness to low and automatic reconnect to access point when available under the settings for the wireless card.

On my R400, I found that it takes a little bit of time to pick up the signal...maybe 10 secs or so - this is only if under situations like if the power cuts off and comes back again and the router is powering itself on. Often I get frustrated and click on "connect" and it does so. But under auto mode, it does come on by itself, but after a bit of a lag. I don't use Lenovo's Access Connections utility.
