    I purchased a t400 a few weeks ago and have really liked it.

    However there are two things that have bothered me. The first is that
    the harddrive seems to make a good amount of noise (i got the 160gb 7200)
    and the second I just noticed earlier today. There is a high pitched noise
    that comes out of my computer. I never noticed it before but today was really
    quiet and I was able to hear it. Now i can't stop hearing it. The only time it stops for a second is when I roll the wheel on the mouse i've attached to it. I've disconnected the mouse and it still makes the noise. It also occurs at all brightness levels.

    have any of you had a similar problem? Try listening real carefully =]

    Switch your power setting to save battery power (something like that) then tell me if you hear it.

    thanks guys,

    yeah i think it was from the power setting.
    i read up on the dell website and i turned on the bluetooth setting
    in order to prevent it from getting into the C3 power state.

    thanks =]
