I got my T400 a couple of months ago with the new flexy keyboard, but with the bracing that made it acceptable.

2 days ago I spilled tea all over my T400, and completely soaked it. Thankfully it survived even though it was on at the time and tea got into every single nook and cranny, even the screen bezel. Anyway, cleaned it up and dried it, but the keyboard had a sticky feeling (even though there was no sugar in the drink). So I just washed it :p, it returned to normal, but it seems like I warped it a bit because now it's a bit more flexy on the left side.

So I decided to do what I intended to do initially and replace the keyboard with an older non flexy one. I dug around the forums to find what I should get and it seems the majority say the NMB one is the best of the 3 (NMB, Alps, Chicony). Is that right?

And is this the NMB one that is compatible with the T400?

Yes, T61 keyboards will work in a T400 and that's the correct part number for the NMB. I've used all the keyboards. They all seem at least very good. My R60 has the Alps.

The T61 NMB on my original non-internal bracing W500 is a dream, if that helps. You want the NMB and it will fit

I've actually used a bunch of T42's from my school library so I've figured out all 3. A few people I know who type heavily that really liked the Chicony. The Alps is about in the middle in terms of noise and hardness. Zaz is right, they're all great. Its just the NMB has the best balance between feel and noise. You're buying the part so choose what for my money is the best of the best keyboards.

A tiny difference between the NMB and the Chicony I got was the feel of the mute, volume up/down, and Thinkvantage keys. I prefer the rubbery texture of the keys on the Chicony keyboard. The NMB is a tad remindful of the original hard plasticky texture I found on the original keyboard.
