i know using the laptop will get oily/shiny over time, especially the keyboard, the top (the matte black cover), and the palmrest area.

does anyone have recommendations to which protector/cover for these areas work the best and of good quality?

    and what about screen protectors?

You can wipe off your screen and just be careful with it.

The keyboard is one of the best parts about a thinkpad, why would you want to ruin the experience with a cover!

it's funny when why buy a new laptop we treat it like gold. buy accessories to protect it... then you get the first scratch. Only then can you use it like a normal piece of hardware :)

You could always order a spare keyboard off of ebay, so that you can replace your keyboard when it's too worn for you to enjoy using it ;)

Or even whenever your keyboard doesn't look appetizing any longer just treat yourself to a new one ordering it with the FRU part number from Lenovo online spare parts paying with a credit card.

Works great also in the smaller countries in Europe with overnight shipment from I believe Amsterdam.
