hi. does your t400 lid squeak when move it? mine did. for me, at least, the problem was a plastic piece that goes over the lcd connector.

if you take your battery out, you will be able to see there is a little plastic piece that covers the connector going from the lcd to the laptop. make sure you look from the back of the notebook, it easiest to see when the lcd is closed. the plastic piece is there to protect the back of the lcd connector.

i wetted a q-tip with some wd-40 and dabbed a bit of it onto the hinges holding the plastic cover (which are best reached with the battery removed) and booya! no more squeak. aahhh... lol.

I don't think it's my job to fix that squeak.

My left touchpad key squeeks like crazy. Is touchpad user replaceable?

i agree zero... but i have yet to see a laptop come in absolute perfect condition, so i don't mind a little hardware tweaking. besides, no lubrication will last forever, it's nice that i know what is causing the sqeaking. once the wd-40 wears off and it starts creaking like a coffin when i open the lid again i will know how to fix it.
