It is available on the Lenovo Japan website.

Go to 2/3 of page of the link below

    http://www-06.ibm.com/jp/domino05/pc/download/download.nsf/jtechinfo/MIGR-70350

    The file name is 7uuj05jp.exe

After you double click, it will unzip the files to this folder

    C:\DRIVERS\FLASH\7uuj05jp

Go there and double click WINUPTP.EXE to execute. Make sure you dont have other softwares running when you execute it.

Note: apparently I could not execute it in vista 64-bit due to some error in Japanese. So I had to boot to my other XP 32bit to run it. It ran fine and I confirmed the new BIOS 1.18-1.01

The updates are (Japanese Yahoo translation)

    BIOS: 1.18/ECP: 1.01
    - [Important modification] It is not.

    - [Expansion of Advanced Capability or function] It is not.

    - [The solution of problem] -
    1. connecting to the docking station with while liquid crystal display is closed, the computer When power is turned on, nothing is indicated in external display It is.
    2. SATA Controller Mode Option is not just set with WMI interface.

Does it work for everyone? 170 views and zero feedbacks?

I installed it and everything looks the same. Can anyone with docking issue or SATA issue confirm ANY benefits of the new BIOS?

It has been out at least since 11/9/08, that is when I downloaded it on my T400. I received it through the Thinkvantage update. My machine had major problems after installing that (+ a few other items via Thinkvantage). I had to restore the T400 with the R&R disks. Since then machine has been OK....using the 1.18 BIOS, so I assume the problem was not with the BIOS.

I received my T400 last week and it came with bios 1.18. I don't have anything to compare too, but it seems to work fine for me.

There are a reasonable number of tweakable items, though nothing particularly fancy.

i'm fairly certain i'm still 1.15 and dont think any new updates were found under system update.

Maybe that is because you are running Vista 64-bit. You have to update the BIOS via boot CD, not executable file. The executable file only works under XP and Vista 32-bit.

I updated my bios via system update (not sure if that is executable file). However, following that update (and a few other updates from Lenovo - through system update), my computer ran horribly (12 minute boot up times). I had to reinstall via thinkvantage for it to work normally again. I have since done a clean install of V64.

I wonder if that BIOS update was the problem. Regardless, somehow that BIOS update did take and it works. It is 1.18.

It must have been an executable file on your system. On Lenovo's website, it says that Vista 64-bit users must update the BIOS with a boot CD.

    From Lenovo's website:

Anyhow, there is a newer 1.19 BIOS available for the T400 over here (bootable CD version).

I believe there is also a 1.20 BIOS available at Lenovo Japan, but I have not tested it.

In the summary of changes for 1.19, it looks like there is one fix for XP. I assume then there is no reason to install this on a computer running Vista. Am I mistaken?
