I will be going to college this fall, and still need to decide on a laptop. I have narrowed my options to either the T400 or W500.
I am an engineering student, so the W500's workstation GPU is appealing, but I am worried the W500 might be too big.
Could someone tell me how much the size difference between the T400 and W500 is, and if the difference in portability is worth the better GPU? If someone could show me pictures of the two laptops next to each other that would be great.

W500/T500: 14.1” x 10” x 1.3”
T400: 13.2" x 9.4" x 1.1"
Basically, an inch larger on length and width, and a tiny bit thicker (although they're both wedge-shaped and taper to the same thickness at the front).
For me, the increase in weight and size was worth it for the great WSXGA+ screen and GPU, but it's largely based on your needs and personal preference. -

Better GPU, better screen quality, higher resolution, DisplayPort, about a pound heavier... up to you. -
Use the W500 as a good daily work out

It isn't that much bigger, and the much higher res and better GPU will pay for engineering tasks.
T400 or W500
