Just took delivery of a new Lenovo T400 and there is a continuous vibration on the palmrest from the hard drive. It's subtle but definitely noticeable, especially on the right side above where the HDD is located. Just curious, is this normal? It's a 160 GB 7200 rpm drive. Thanks, Dave S

There should be no vibration, a screw might have come out and that could be a proble. There might be a little hum but no vibration.

I have a t400 with the 160 gb 7200rpm drive. I have the same issue. The noise of the hardrive is definitely noticeable and there is a slight amount of vibration in the palmrest.

I have a 7200rpm drive and I’ve never noticed it. If I put my palm on my table and then on the palm rest of my notebook, I can feel my palm is on a machine with moving parts, but it is only the slightest most hardly noticeable vibration and I’ve never really felt it until I read this thread/tested it out. It’s a non-issue for me and my drive is pretty much silent.
