Hi all, I see that there are discounts to be had at the Lenovo website. Currently I am looking at:
    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26GHz 1066MHz 3MBL2) 25W1
    Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic12
14.1 WXGA TFT, w/ CCFL Backlight, Camera
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
    2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)8
    UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
250 GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm4
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max, Ultrabay Slim (Serial ATA)5
    No Bluetooth
ThinkPad 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter III10
    Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable
    6 cell Li-Ion Battery60
    7417: 1 Year Depot Warranty - TopSeller7

This would cost me $800. Is this a good deal?

I was also looking at the T61s and it seems to be heavily on sale. is there a reason for this and should I look at this laptop?

    The T61 is last year's model. The T400 and T500 replaces T61 (14.1'' and 15.4'') respectively.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Would you consider this a reasonable deal?

You might want to look in the Lenovo and Dell Outlets if you're looking for a deal. You can probably get the T61 cheaper. The E6400 is also an excellent machine. It offers a better warranty and Dell has a much more forgiving return policy should things not work out.

I agree with ZaZ, the if you don't mind going that route the Outlet offers a solid option, you might want to check that.

The _Dell _E6400 as ZaZ has stated is a beautiful solid machine, and with the 20% off coupon _Dell offered a few weeks back for the Latitude models on the Outlet was an even better deal.
