I've used a 13' Vaio with a resolution of 1280*800 and it was confortable. What i'm affraid is that T400 resolution will be too small for me (which would mean I would get a T500 because I want LED). But then again, 1280*800 on a 15'4 seems too big.

So... Is the T400 resolution 1400*900 too small?

Nope. I think it's actually just about perfect* for a 14.1 display. Just right.

    * - Perfect would be a 1400x1050 4:3 screen but since that's not available I'll take what I can get.

Currently have a 4:3 14.1" 1400x1050 (SXGA+) and I don't want to loose resolution (124dpi). Can you notice a loss of resolution in the T400 1400x900 (120dpi)? It seems very close. Trying to decide whether I should go with the T500 and 1680x1050 (128dpi) and loose the LED or if the T400 will be close to my current SXGA+

    i think it's tiny..but that's because im used to a 4:3 15" 1024 X 768

goto best buy or circuit city or somewhere to check out the Res. on a 14"

plus you can always edit the DPI in windows

Perfect would be a 14.1" SXGA+ IPS with LED backlight, but they're investing $0 in that technology. The last part is so true.

My criteria is simple: With the laptop on my lap, at 3/4 arms length, in a reclined position, I should not have to strain with my 20/20 vision to read or manipulate anything on the screen at the LCD's native resolution with normal DPI settings in XP.

I am running my T500 at 1680x1050 and it is the highest resolution I think would pass this test of mine, and its perfect: Lots of info on one wide screen, not too much scrolling per page, and no undo straining with my good vision.
