    Hi All,

I just purchased a new T400 from the Canadian site which lists the graphics card as an AMD M82XT Hybrid. I'm wondering if anyone knows specs on that graphics card. Google doesn't seem to be providing much help and I'm worried that the card may use system ram instead of dedicated ram (hybrid keyword). Is there even such a thing as an M82XT? Does it compare to a 3000 series AMD card? I had originally ordered a T400 with X4500 graphics but cancelled my order and switched to the AMD M82XT. I'm hoping the extra $100 is worth it...

M82XT is the ati 3470. Why Lenovo hasnt bothered to fix that typo yet is odd.

Any idea how it matches up to the equivalent on the new latitudes? The NVIDIA® Quadro® NVS 160M5 256MB DDR25 i think it is...

Have no idea about NVIDIA® Quadro® NVS 160M5 256MB DDR25, but HD 3470 should be faster than NVS 140M since the NVS 140M is based on Geforce 8400M GS and HD 3470 is better than Geforce 8400M GS. My guess is they should be equal in performance, but the NVS 160M is going to be better for graphic works.

Pretty good chance its just a 9300GS since the NVS 160M is both on the 14" and 15" Latitude E. For all intensive purposes in gaming, the HD3470 and NVS 160M would be the same. For CAD and OpenGL, the NVS wins. But since that doesn't matter to me, and given nVidia's recent blunders, the HD 3470 edges it out.

Interesting....I may have to do some CAD work here and there in university, so I was worried to see the precision and latitude come up after already ordering a t400...but after seeing this I don't think it will be an issue.

I've added my T400 to my sig so you can see the specs. The price I paid (after taxes) was about $1600 (using my epp code).
To order one just go to Lenovo's Canadian site
As for size and wieght, I don't know yet because I just placed the order today.

I find it ironic to see Intel and Amd products enclosed inside the same computer :D

I paid 1,500$ for my T400......I believe for gaming performance the HD3470 is better because the HD3470 is better than 9300M GS according to Chaz ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=275056) and not notebookcheck....However, CAD work and OpenGL...I agree that the NVS wins

I became a T400 convert today. Dell disappointed me with a shipping delay. I ordered a Precision M2400 on 8/18 and the estimated delivery date just got bumped to 9/19. I needed an excuse to try a ThinkPad and the Lenovo customer service made it happen. Overall I traded up in hardware (more memory, larger drive) for less $$$ from the M2400. But I have to wait an xtra week... that stinks. I need the lappy yesterday. My Dell order is canceled, so I hope I made the right choice.

To the point of my post...

According to those who have posted before me, I see that where AMD M82XT HYBRID 256MB = ATI HD3470 256MB. Can someone who has a T400 with AMD M82XT HYBRID 256MB, please tell me what the I/O(s) is (DVI or dual DVI)? The Lenovo sales person said I will only have VGA. Is this correct?

That is correct. No DVI, HDMI, or display port. you will need to get the external dock to get DVI, not sure about the HDMI or display port part.

Thanks. I think it is kinda crazy not to have an upgrade on the T400 (a nice product). The Dell M2400 has display port. Likely, I'll need some adapters.
