Will Lenovo's ThinkPad 72W AC Adapter -- specified for the T40 and other machines -- both fit and power the T400?

    Thanks.

The connector won't fit the new Thinkpads. The voltage is different, and is not compatible, as trieudoahong noted.

This difference was featured a few years back on David Hill's Lenovo Blog "Design Matters":

a minor correction, the Lenovo Thinkpads use 20V for its adapter, not 19V.
