this is regarding VLC on a Thinkpad T400, but it could relate to all Thinkpads.

when using VLC, i cannot utilize the volume buttons to change volume. i have to use the software volume controls to change volume.

does anyone else experience this? is there a way to change this within vlc?

    Thanks

You want to sync your keyboard volume buttons with VLC Player? Like with MPC?

I don't know how to do that, but you can use CTRL+Up/Down to control the player volume.

I can't really help you, only confirm that both player and keyboard volume controls function independently on my w500.

I had the same problem earlier as the volume keys were useless. Somehow, they started working at some point after a newer version of the player was installed. If you do have the latest version, then I hope someone else has the answer for you.

    okay that was strange.

i was using vlc .9.4 and upgraded to .9.8 and the volume controls now work.

i dont get why something so simple didnt function properly earlier but whatever, it now works.
