I have an LG 32 inch LCD TV that i want to hook up to my laptop. It works fine when i have a 6 foot cable connecting the two; i get the full 1920x1080 resolution and everything works great. However, since 6 feet of cable really isn't that much, i bought a 10 foot extension cable. When i connect the two VGA cables and then plug the cable into the TV and Laptop, things get all out of wack and i cant display at 1920x1080 anymore - i'm limited to 1600x1200, not to mention a couple other settings that go off limits. I called ATI but they said it wouldn't be a problem on their end - perhaps a power-consumption issue or some limitation with the laptop itself. That said, is it possible to get rid of the limitation? Or would doing that be unwise...
If there is a specific thread for this, id be happy to read it although i couldn't find any..
Thanks

Probably because of your EXTENSION. Try just getting a single, longer, cable from monoprice.

VGA, like all analog signals degrades over distance. You can either get a higher quality VGA cable (shorter the better), or buy the Ultrabase and a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (HDMI is digital and does not degrade, it either works or doesn't).

it looks like the largest cable monoprice has is only 10ft. is 15ft of cable just unrealistic? also, why specifically is the extension causing problems?
edit: read the above post right after this post. thanks!
