    Hello,
has anyone tried to hock up a DVI-Monitor to his/her ThinkPad T400 using the Advanced Mini Dock? Somehow, my ThinkPad doesn't recognize the Monitor and it is just showing a black picture. Can someone confirm that using DVI with the T400 is actually working? I don't have any trouble using VGA, but I really would like to use DVI.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    GoMike

Are you using integrated or discrete graphics? I believe it will only work if you are using discrete.

I have tried integrated as well as discrete and it doesn't work either way.

Is it true that it's supposed to only work with dedicated? I wouldn't like that because I am running Windows XP and have mine locked to integrated since I don't need the dedicated one...

    Has anyone confirmed information?

I think you have to explicitly select Discrete Graphics (not Switchable or Integrated) in the BIOS for the advance dock to output DVI. That's kind of annoying.

Supposedly, Lenovo is going to update the BIOS to allow output to DVI, not just Internal ThinkPad LCD and VGA.

No, you don't have to change anything in the BIOS.
Switch to high performance graphics and use presentation director to use your external monitor.

On that page it says that only systems running Windows Vista are effected by this problem. I am running Windows XP. So, DVI should work, shouldn't it?

By the way, as I said early, DVI is NOT working when I set the graphics to dedicated in the BIOS and it is also NOT working when I set it to integrated.

    Hi,

Iv'e just tried my T400 with a Samsung 950B - it does not work OOTB with the DVI cable. Then I tried with a Samsung SyncMaster 245B and it worked fine...

Hi, are you using Windows XP or Windows Vista? And does the DVI-output work for you with the integrated graphic or are you using the dedicated one?
