    Hello,

Have you tried using ThinkVantage System Update to automatically download and install device drivers for your T400?

    Windows Update might work too.

USB is a serial device. Check to make sure you have USB drivers set up. You should have both Universal (USB 1.0/1.1) and Enhanced (USB 2.0) items listed similar to this:

Often the Enhanced driver won't set up correctly for some reason. Usually Windows Update corrects the problem for me. Otherwise, System Restore to a point before your last Windows update and re-running Windows Update might help.

Glad you got it sorted out. Too late to help you now, but another option just occurred to me for future reference. You can go to http://www.pcidatabase.com and enter parts of the device id you can find in the device properties window to help determine what the part is, or at least who the manufacturer is to help narrow it down. It's a little cryptic, as you have to search on just the portion of the device id that pertains to the device itself or the vendor, but it's a pretty reliable source.

Sorry for the brain fart. It may have saved you some time.
