    Hi guys,

    My T400 freezes 90 out of 100 times when it resumes from sleep mode( When I close the lid )
    I am using vista 32 bit SP1. Also sometimes it freezes randomly. I mean you cant even move the mouse or do CtrlAltDel. any clues?

    thanks

    not normal. was it always like that? if it's been like that out of the box, you should call tech support and have them fix it.

    Yes, see what tech support can do.

    As a side note, every thinkpad I've ever owned has had problems waking up from sleep.

    A related funny story: A salesperson was trying to sell me an X60 tablet a few years ago and the thing froze trying to wake up and he kept talking about some BS while he held down the power button and turned it back on. I asked if it froze and he kept playing it off as if it was normal. I walked away.

    thanks for replies guys.
    @hellomuggle
    I didn't test it with lenovo install as I did a clean install after receiving it.
    @Llama R
    thanks for the info. Hopefully new T400s don't have that issue.
    @Keltix
    It does freeze like that a few times during normal use but I thought that was a Vista problem. also, my Bluetooth is working perfectly.

    it seems lenovos have intermittent problems with freezing in general- i had a freezing on shutdown problem that went away as mysteriously as it came. the problem seemed to come around more often near a microsoft update for me... but that observation is likely not correct.

    I had this problem with XP, so I updated the T400 bios and power management software and the problems went away. Used the Lenovo software update.

    I've had it happen to me 1 time since owning the notebook for just under a month now. If this is happening 90% of the time, there's definitely something wrong. Call Lenovo and complain about this, it's unacceptable that a machine in which you paid good money for be a defect or a lemon.

    It's not the sleep. Its not google and some other random combination. It has something to do with the IBM T400 (or T series in general as the T500 from other blogs are having the same issue). We have several here at work and all are starting to experience the freezing problem. Mine went first and at least 3 other people in an office of 40 are experienceing the problem. All have the Lenovo T400 running windows XP. I've been looking for answers and see others running vista, so I'm thinking it's the hardware.

    I've disabled the thinkvantage "active protection" and it did not help.

    I've changed the bios settings to "active" Security and it did not help.

    We have an IT department for 30,000 people and they have not come up with an answer. I'm hoping they will contact IBM before our whole U.S. disvision has this issue.

    i got my t500 about 2 days ago and im loving it, but the fact that it's freezing pisses me off! and i have no idea why! it has happened twice so far, once after i had around 10 tabs running in google chrome and itunes and msn messenger. I tried to open up task manager to see if google chrome was the problem, but the task manager window didnt even pop up! so i tried to shut down through the start menu...NOTHING! i had to do a hard reset! the 2nd time around, my laptop was in sleep and when it awoke from sleep, the battery estimate for time usage was frozen at 2 hours even though i had fully charged it to 100%, and shortly after google chrome froze and i could not shutdown it, and had to do another hard reset. should i call lenovo and see what is wrong? does anyone know what is wrong?

    Are you talking about the same problem here?

    Mine is not about problems during which windows is running. Mine is the problem of not waking.
